What you need

`2 cups flour

`1 cup dark brown sugar

`2 large eggs

`3 bananas (roasted)

`1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

`2 tsp baking soda

`1 tsp vanilla

`big pinch of salt
`caramel (melted) I love this recipe or you can use store bought...whatever is easiest for you.

What you do

`Pre-heat oven to 400'. Place bananas on a foil lined baking sheet. Roast bananas till they turn black (about ten min)

I love roasted fruits and veggies. I feel like the roasting brings outs the sweet flavors and adds a nice taste and texture through out. So, although roasted bananas are highly un-attractive....they taste amazing!

`Once bananas are done and cooled completely....mix all the ingredients together.

`Turn the oven to 325'

`Scoop the muffins using an ice cream scoop or measuring cup for equal sized muffins

`Sprinkle a good amount of brown sugar on top each muffin

`Bake for aprox. 15 minutes

`Let cool completely then drizzle melted caramel over the top....and enjoy!

These are a favorite at our family Sunday brunch. I hope you indulge your family and friends with these muffins! Thank you for allowing me to share!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome Kiley!

1. Tell us a little bit about you as a person?

I'm 24 and live in the central coast of California. The last couple years have been a battle, but I am happy to be where I am now which is well, happy. I have an intense love for film photography, California, literature, fungi, food, tea, and beer. I am an amateur of many things, which means I like to learn and do many (often too many) things, but never get really good at them, like play accordion, make tinctures, and knit.

2. Tell us how/why you started Let It Be Raw?

I started my blog Let It Be Raw during a really awful time in my life to give me hope and a creative outlet. Having something to work on everyday really made life better for me. The idea for the blog came because I wanted to share my photography in a more descriptive way than just posting images.

3. What do you do when you're not blogging?

When I'm not blogging, I'm working at the lovely UCSC campus or hiking along the coast taking pictures. My latest project is traveling around from California park to park pretending I'm Ansel Adams.

4. What networking do you to that you feel most helps your blogging business?

I'm not very good at networking, especially now that I have a full time job. Blog networking seems to require a lot of time on the internet visiting sites, buying ads, and commenting. I like doing giveaways the best though because then I can give strangers things I've made.

5. Who are some other bloggers that inspire you?

Bloggers that inspire me are those bloggers that really take the time to share things they've made, written, cooked, photographed, whatever in detail. Some of my favorites are Cities Birds Nest, Whiskey Shores, The Magic Bus, The California Republic, and The Deadly Doodler.

6. Tell us about your craft and how you got started

My craft started when I first picked up a film camera 9 years ago. I try to take detailed nature or texture based images and enjoy using graphic design to remake old photos. I love giving away stuff I made to friends and family.

7. What has been your best experience through your Etsy shop?

My best experience through my Etsy shop was my first sale. I had the biggest smile on my face that day! Besides that, I've really enjoyed trying new ideas out and getting creative for my little shop.

8. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

My favorite item in my shop is the graveyard photo. I really love that photo and the way it came out! I also think it's something really interesting and creepy to put on a wall. Whomever buys that photo will take a little piece of my weird little heart with them.

Dream Catcher Baby

Hello Friends!

Today we are going to talk about Dream Catcher Baby. Have you met Jess or seen her work? If you haven't you are SERIOUSLY missing out. For instance... she sent me the cutest little boy bow tie for my nephew. Just look at how adorable it is on him!

I love the bow tie so much. The craftsmanship is impeccable. My favorite part is that the clasp is velcro so the neck piece comes apart instead of needing to slide it over his head. It's so easy to take on and off. I think it's a great way to dress up any outfit. And it would be absolutely perfect for Easter Sunday! Jess has so many cute patterns in her SHOP I wish I could buy all of them. If you have a little one or know someone else who does, take a second to pop into Dream Catcher Baby. But watch out! You might become addicted to bow ties!

Honey Pot Pet Tutorial::: Business Card Holders

Hello hello sweet readers. We are the ladies from Honey Pot! You will find unique, adorable and practical pet items from all over the world there. We also blog about our favorite items, tips on training pets, and pet food recipes!

We are thrilled to be guest posting on Yellow Bird, Yellow Beard today! It's been a while since we last did a tutorial... actually this will be our first tutorial of 2012! EEK. Easy peasy, and extra cute business card holders. No sewing machine needed!

What you need :

1 sheet of 9 in x 12 in peel & stick felt

1 sheet of 9 in x 12 inch felt

scissors

embellishments {optional}

needle & thread {optional}

hot glue gun {optional}

Let's start!

Your peel & stick felt looks like the above picture - front & back.

Lay out a business card {for size purposes} on your regular felt, and add about a

half an inch to each side. Cut two pieces.

Perfect!

Lay out the two pieces of your cut out felt {for size purposes} on your peel & stick felt, and add about an inch to each side. Cut two pieces.

Now peel off the paper.

And stick your purple regular felt onto the sticky part like so. This stuff is super sticky!

This is the optional part... If you would like to add any embellishments, this is the time to do so.

We cut out a white little flower and two green leaves. Using a needle and thread, I positioned

and secured the little piece on the bottom left corner.

Now stick the two pieces together, and press together. If you would like to secure the bind even stronger, you can sew around the edges {optional}.

We glue gunned a little diamond in the center of the flower {optional}.

And there you have it! Your very own, DIY business card holder that you can carry around

in your purse everywhere you go.

Sunday Special::: Pancakes

One of my favorite treats to make for The Beard is pancakes on Sunday mornings. But not just any pancakes. I pack them with as many goodies as I can find. Here's my typical recipe:::

Janee's Extravagant Pancookin's

2 Eggs

2 Cups Bisquick

1/2 Cup Kahlúa

1/2 Cup Whole Milk

Chocolate Chips

Blueberries

Raspberries

{On very rare occasions I'll throw in some banana chunks too}

I mix my ingredients in a special order to make sure my pancakes are nice and fluffy with no chunks of batter. In a big mixing bowl I blend the eggs first. Then I add the milk and Kahlúa and blend again. Last add the Bisquick and blend for a good long time. I also preheat the pan just a little bit and spray it with Pam spray. As for the toppings, I pour the batter and place the toppings quickly then wait a short while before flipping.

That's it! Now you just need butter and syrup or powdered sugar or peanut butter or applesauce or whatever you enjoy! I prefer just a little bit of butter and some powdered sugar sprinkled on top.

Sorry for my slight absence this last week. What with being gone for Valentine's, catching up on orders, and the unexpected happenings of life I got kinda overwhelmed! I suppose that's ok every once in a while right? Definitely.

ALSO! The Beard and I have very exciting plans for Valentine's Day. We have a little villa all to ourselves at a {semi}local winery - South Coast Winery! Our package came with a bunch of fun goodies like a private wine and cheese pairing and a mimosa breakfast... oh boy, I'm SO excited. However, this does mean I'll be away from my computer for a few days. I plan to "unplug" as much as possible and really focus on spending quality time with my sweetheart.

{{{NOTE::: I prepared this post this weekend and just now saw that A Beautiful Mess has a very similar post. I want to establish that I had no idea she was planning a cake pop tutorial also and I had no intention of copying her.}}}

Good Afternoon Friends!

I'm sure most of you noticed my hints at a cake pop tutorial last week. Well here it is!

Ingredients:::

One box of cake mix {I used funfetti}

One container of frosting

Candy melts

Sprinkles

Lolly pop sticks or skewers

Double boiler pan or pan with heat proof glass bowl

1. Bake your cake according to the box directions. Let it cool all the way or overnight.

2. Crumble up your cake into small pieces in a very large bowl.

3. Mix in the whole container of frosting. You can use your hands or a spatula for this part.

Hands is obviously more ~~messy~~ fun. Then refrigerate the mixture for at least one hour.

4. Use a small cookie/ice cream scoop to make roughly 1 inch diameter balls.

5. Melt your candy coating in your double boiler.

6. Take a cake ball and dip a small portion of it in the candy coating;

then put a lolly pop stick into the area with coating. This will help hold the stick in place later.

7. Do this to several cake balls at once so the candy coating has time to harden.

8. I didn't put any sprinkles on this part of mine because I was taking photos, but you definitely can.

9. Once the candy coating around the stick is hardened dip the rest of the cake ball in the candy

and cover thoroughly. Then blast it with sprinkles quickly so they will dry to the coating.

10. Find an object with holes about the size of your lolly pop sticks to hold them upright while they dry.

I used my steamer basket, but I'm sure you could use a colander or a foam block as well.

That's it! Now go eat cake to your heart's content!

Recently I've decided to try my utmost to eat healthier meals and snacks. Now when I say this I don't mean I'm going to drink only cranberry juice or eat fat free ice cream. I just mean that I'd like to eat a few less carbs/calories/fats each day.

Step 1::: Research what snacks are healthy. I liked these ..1..2..3.. articles the best.

Step 2::: Buy healthy snacks. Thank you Trader Joes!

I bought::: Edamame, low fat plain yogurt, dried cranberries and mangos, low fat cottage cheese {eeehh...}, hummus, guilt free pita chips, Better'n Peanut Butter, and Ezekiel whole grain bread.

Step 3::: EAT! But not too much.

I tried to find items that fit into WebMD's categories for healthier snacks: Enough calories to be satisfying, but not so many that the snack becomes a meal; less fat and saturated fat than other similar snacks; whole grain and fiber, protein, and/or other nutrients that give them staying power.

You wanna know the best part about all this? Luna Bird can eat most of these things too! Sharing a plate of snacks with my birdie? It couldn't get any cuter. What's your favorite healthy snack?

Today's Friday and on Fridays I usually post my "Friday's Fashion Statement" over on my blog. If you hop on over there, you will see what I mean (but stay here til the end, ok?!). So I thought I'd do something similar over here today and what better topic to choose than the upcoming day of love, Valentine's Day!

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day in a special way? No matter if you are in a relationship or not? Well, we do something special like going out for dinner and the hubs might bring me some flowers, but never anything over the top, because like most people I think you should show your love all year long and not just on that particular date.

But it is kind of nice to know that your better half thought of you and wrote a card or got some flowers or maybe some chocolates, and if you're really lucky a cute pair of earrings or another cute piece of jewelry (wink). I love browsing the interwebs for ideas I can use to create new items for my shop or for a handmade gift for someone special.

Do you make handmade gifts for your better half? And, if so, how does he/ she respond to it? My hubs loves knitted gifts I make him, like a scarf he really wanted and got for Christmas or a certain type of hat and a nice and cozy pair of socks.

You could even bake some heart-shaped cookies or make a cute card with a nice quote or poem on it. Maybe get some tickets for the movies and go see a chick flick with him, just this one time (to be honest the hubs loves chick flicks)!

Good Evening Friends!

I don't normally talk about the nitty gritty personal life stuff, but today something big and awesome happened. I've been struggling with my birth control for almost two years now and it's really been quite a battle. I've been getting my ass kicked. But today after 14 months of waiting on paperwork and insurance mix-ups I was finally able to get a non-hormonal birth control. If all goes according to plan, I'll be my normal self in several weeks. Yay! Take that you stupid hormones. The biggest thing I'm looking forward to is loosing the weight the pills made me gain. Oh goodness that will be a relief.

So that's my story. Sorry if it was way too much personal information. But if you do want to talk to me about it further feel free.

Birthday Cupcake Candles

When Janee asked me to write a guest post for her blog, I was excited to share this "recipe" for birthday candle cupcakes! I came up with this just recently, when I needed to put together a craft for a kids' birthday party. This craft was a HIT with the kids because everyone got to decorate their own candle with the wax colors and real sprinkle toppings of their choice- and the wax wasn't too hot for little fingers. I think they are really stinkin' cute for any age… so here's how you make 'em!

You will need:
1 pound block beeswax
1/2 lb bag soy container blend wax
1 spool cotton wick
1 package metal wick bases
Pliers
Scissors
Non-Stick Cooking Spray
Silicone cupcake pan- OR 1 package cupcake papers
Assorted sprinkles
Double Boiler
Tape
Optional- Hot Glue Gun

Step one: Cut lengths of the cotton wick long enough to reach through the height of a frosted cupcake (about 3.5 inches long. Take one end of the wick, and run it through the metal wick base. Pinch the tube of the metal wick base with pliers to secure the cotton wick.

Step two: Take your threaded wicks and your hot glue gun, and put a dab of glue in the center of each baking cup, then place your wicks on each glue spot. This will help prevent your wicks from floating away when you pour in the hot wax.

When the wicks are all glued in placed, take your non-stick cooking spray, and give the entire pan a good spritzing. This will help you pop your candles out of the mold without any trouble. If you are using cupcake papers- you will want to spray the insides of those as well.

Now it's time to melt the wax and get the candles started!
Step 3: Place the block of bees wax in the double boiler (or a regular old sauce pan full of water with a metal bowl placed on top.) I like to use a silicone spatula to help the wax melt evenly.

To give my cupcake a pink look, I unwrapped a fushia crayon and dropped it into the double boiler with the melting block of wax. Using metal tongs, I removed the crayon after only a few second. Apparently, crayon wax is a mighty powerful color additive! I would recommend 1/4 of a crayon to add color.

Step 4: When the wax had completely melted, I poured it straight into the individual cups of the silicone cupcake pan- leaving about a quarter of an inch from the top of the cup. Be sure to wear oven mitts for this stage, as the metal bowl can be hot. Also- be mindful of the condensation on the bottom of the bowl- the steam from the saucer below builds up, and if the water drips into the wax, it can create icky pock marks. Wipe it up and keep pouring the wax!

Step 5: While the wax is still hot and liquify, set the sprinkle containers between the cups of wax, and tape the wicks to the sprinkle containers so that there is no slack in the wick. Let the wax cupcakes cool completely. Remove the tape from the wicks and let them fall freely.

Step 6: Take the Soy Container Blend Wax (or any other wax shaving you have) and place them in the double boiler for only about a minute or so. To add color to this "frosting" break off a little more crayon and mix it into the wax flakes.

Step 7: Pour the semi-melted wax flakes on top of the solid cupcake bases. Use a spatula or your fingers to mound the candle wax flakes up towards the center of the cupcake. Give the wick a tug to make sure it is taught in the center of the frosting.

While the wax is still wet, generously shake out sprinkles over the cupcake candles!

Serve up on with a side of matches and enjoy the night! Homemade cupcake candles are an awesome way to add a personal touch to any party or get-together!

Hi! My name is Heather and I blog over at Finding Beauty in the Ordinary.
I'm a 26 year old, happily married, adventure seeking blog lover :) My
little blog is a place to share what's on my heart and what my husband and I are up to as we have recently
relocated to a new city for his new job. I love capturing a moment by
camera and simply finding beauty in the ordinary moment of life.

The past couple of months, I've started blogging actively, using social media, and have been trying to keep up with it all. Most days, I feel like I'm drowning in information. Do you ever feel that way?

I get burnt out easily and often feel completely drained from technology! There are days where I feel like I go to bed with my laptop and wake up with it. Oh, and how can I forget my iPhone? That thing is my own personal little companion. I'm addicted.

Have you seen this video before?

Some of my favorites points for staying creative were these:

Carry a notebook everywhere
Get away from the computer
Take breaks
Go somewhere new
Get lots of rest
Stop trying to be someone else's perfect

Wowzers! Ummm... I need to watch this again. How often do I take a true break from technology? As in, literally LEAVE the computer, the phone, the emails... and get away? Whether that's going on a long drive somewhere beautiful, or sitting on the beach near the ocean, hiking to the highest peak of a mountain, or going on an evening walk? Or simply doing the mundane things of life like doing the dishes and folding laundry without being interrupted constantly by the ding of the iPhone notifying me of emails? When was the last time I gave my husband my 100% attention? Not just the "Oh yeah, really, babe? What happened at work today?" question while I'm skimming through my BlogLovin' feed and diverting my attention elsewhere. I'm guilty.

There is so much beauty around us. Let's get out there and enjoy it. There's a time and a place for everything, including our blog, email and technology time. Don't get me wrong, I love it all :) But when it all comes down to it, people are the most important things in life... let's invest in them, and really be with them when we're with them. And take breaks from technology consistently and really live.

The Perfect Pear Guest Post

Hello to all the lovely readers out there! Lauren here, with a super cute and easy way to spice up your whole wardrobe! yes, I went there, your WHOLE wardrobe! Ready, Set GO!

*the pins are for perfectionists, you'll notice I didn't use them! I used an iron instead!

One: Start by cutting out these three pieces of fabric!

Two: Lets make the bow! Fold both pieces hot dog style and sew the top. If you are using a patterned fabric sew right sides together

Three: Flip inside out and sew the two ends together to make a loop. Flip right side out and place the seam in the middle.

Four: Slip the smaller loop around the big one, adjust as you go, to make a nice giant bow!

Five: Lets make the tie. Fold it hot dog style and iron it or pin it. For the extra feminine touch, cut the ends so they make a point and is not so blunt. Sew the top and points right sides together making sure to leave a little opening. Turn it right side out and sew a blind stitch to close it up and conceal it nicely!

Six: Insert the ties criss cross into the small loop of the bow. You can adjust the size to your liking!

And voila, a pretty giant bow that can make a simple tee into a fabulously cute one! Thanks for having me Janee! :) Happy Crafting!

Hi guys! I'm Julie Ann, the girl behind Julie Ann Art, a blog of tutorials, crafts, and recipes. I made this blueberry muffin recipe this weekend and they were so good, I'm so happy to share them with you today!

I got muffin tins for Christmas and wanted to put them to use. Plus, I had blueberries that have been sitting in the freezer for too long (yes, I didn't even use fresh blueberries and these were still the best muffins ever). Not into muffins for breakfast? Last night I heated one of these up and had it with French Vanilla ice cream. It was amazing!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup white sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 egg

1/3 cup milk

1 cup fresh blueberries

1/2 cup white sugar

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup butter, cubed

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease muffin cups or line with muffin liners (I didn't have liners so I used PAM and the muffins popped right out of the tins). Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, 3/4 cup sugar, salt and baking powder. Place vegetable oil into a 1 cup measuring cup; add the egg and enough milk to fill the cup. Mix this with flour mixture. Fold in blueberries. Fill muffin cups right to the top, and sprinkle with crumb topping mixture.

To Make Crumb Topping: Mix together 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, 1/4 cup butter, and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon. Mix with fork, and sprinkle over muffins before baking.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until done.

Jordan said, and I quote him, "These are the best muffins I've ever had." I love that I was able to throw these together while using ingredients I already had in the house. I also have chocolate chips in my cupboard...I may have try the chocolate version of this recipe next! Enjoy!

Note from Janee::: I made these Thursday night and they are amazing! The Beard and I have had them for breakfast the past couple mornings and they are especially good warmed up with a little butter. Mmmm.

Hello it's Tara from SewTara and I'm sharing a little accessorizing DIY project. One of my goals is to accessorize more and while I have bought a few things here and there I figured I should also make my own pretty things.

You will need:
- a scrap of fabric
- a wooden cut out
- glue gun
- pin back
- scissors
- Modge Podge or white glue

Trace your wood shape on the wrong side of your fabric. If you have a special part of the pattern you want to capture make sure you've placed it in the right place.

Spread Modge Podge on the wooden piece. Cut out the fabric and place it on.

Plug in your glue gun and add your pin back with a little blob of hot glue. You may need to trim excess fabric from places with small scissors or an exacto knife.

Next have someone around to take a finished photo for you because propping a camera up on items and hoping for a good shot is very hit and miss.

You get the idea.
